The 190 meter long, 56824 dwt bulk freighter Trans Summer sank off Hong Kong.   The Trans Summer was at anchor with its cargo of nickle ore at an anchorage 45 miles southwest when it became overwhelmed by 15 meter waves and 90 kph winds caused by Typhoon Utor.  The bulk freighter had suffered some water ingress in the hold causing the cargo to shift and the vessel capsized and sank.

The 21 crew were able to send out a distress call before abandoning ship.  Some of the crew were able to reach the life rafts while others jump into the water as the vessel listed from 30 degrees onto its side.   Authorities dispatched two helicopters to the scene which were able to save all 21 men.   The Trans Summer was headed to China from Indonesia before it sank. No further details reported.

The barge Guo Liang 677 capsized and sank near Horsburgh Lighthouse off Singapore.   The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) received a report that the vessel had sank and dispatched rescue vessels to the scene.  A patrol vessel rescued one crew member while another crewman was rescued by a nearby vessel.   Eight men were still reported missing.  The MPA reported:

Search and rescue (SAR) operations for 8 missing crew members of the capsized Mongolian-flagged barge Guo Liang 677 continued for the fourth day today (July 27). The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has been co-ordinating the SAR operations since receiving report of the incident on 24 July 2013. The incident happened in Singapore waters about 7 nautical miles north of Horsburgh Lighthouse. As of 1830 hours (Singapore time) today, the SAR operations has involved a total of two Super Puma helicopters and two Fokker-50 Maritime Patrol Aircraft from the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF), four patrol vessels from the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN), four Police Coast Guard (PCG) patrol craft, divers and two diving support vessels from Resolve Salvage & Fire (Asia), and 91 passing commercial vessels.

The 78 foot long fishing vessel Lone Star capsized and sank near the mouth of the Igushik River, Alaska.   The four crew sent out a distress call with a nearby fishing vessel responding.  All four men were rescued and taken to Dillingham.  No reports of injuries.  The Coast Guard reports that pollution has leaked into the water.  The Lone Star had some 14,000 gallons of diesel fuel on board at the time of the incident.   The Coast Guard and local authorities are coordinating a response to the incident.
