On the morning of October 22, the 112 meter long, 1200 dwt ro-ro pasenger ferry Hamnavoe  (IMO: 9246061) suffered damage while crossing the Pentland Firth off Scotland. The Hamnavoe was en route to Scrabster from Stromness when it suffered a cargo shift.  Two vans and 3 cars on the vehicle deck sustained damage, but there were no injuries on board. The ferry was able to proceed with a starboard list and reached Scrabster under its own power. There the passengers and undamaged vehicles were unloaded.  No reports if the Hamnavoe  had sustained any damage caused by the cargo shift.

Reports state the crew carried out a full review after the incident. The UK Marine Accident Investigation Board stated they were making enquiries to determine if an investigation was warranted. There were no reports of pollution released. The Hamnavoe returned to service later the same day.

On the morning of October 15, the 80 meter long self-propelled barge Labe 15 (MMSI: 270314000) sprung a leak on the Wesser River at the lock in Dörverden, Germany.  The Labe 15 alerted authorities that the vessel had suffered water ingress in the vessel’s engine room.  The local fire brigade was alerted which dispatched a pollution response vessel to the scene. The fire brigade used a pump on this vessel to dewater the Labe 15. Reports state the oil polluted water was stored in special containers to prevent pollution reaching the river. Divers were deployed to locate the leak and make temporary repairs. No reports of injuries. Authorities state that traffic resumed on the Weser later that afternoon.

Around noon on September 25, the 85 meter long self-propelled tanker-barge Amici (MMSI: 211511880) sprung a leak on the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal near Wijk bij Duurstede, Netherlands. Authorities were alerted that the Amici, loaded with a cargo of manure, was taking on water. The local fire brigade was called out and found the vessel had sprung a leak. Aided by the self-propelled barge Salve (MMSI: 244670076) which help stabilize the Amici, fire fighters attempted to help seal the leak.

Reports state the master of the Amici was not on board the vessel during the incident, but he was notified and proceeded to the vessel.  The cause of the leak was not disclosed, but news accounts stated the vessel had suffered prior leaks in the past. No reports of injuries.
