On the morning September 22, the fishing vessel ST 94989 TS became disabled in the South China Sea 17 nautical miles off Chan Da, Vietnam. The ST 94989 TS had suffered damage on board that disabled its steering. Unable to maneuver, the fishing vessel requested assistance. Vietnamese authorities dispatched a patrol vessel BP 18.13.01 to assist. The BP 18.13.01 arrived on site and was able to pass a towline over to the fishing vessel. The vessel then proceeded to Tran De Fishing Port. No reports of injuries or pollution released.
On the early morning of September 20, the fishing vessel Ray Primero sprung a leak 10 nautical miles off A Coruña, Spain. The Ray Primero sent out a distress call stating the vessel had uncontrolled flooding and the crew were abandoning ship into a life raft. The Salvamento Marítimo launched a search and rescue operation with multiple vessels and a helicopter to the scene. The helicopter found the life raft and hoisted all 11 crew to safety. No reports of injuries.
When the search and rescue vessels arrived, they found the Ray Primero still afloat. Authorities started dewatering efforts while the 22 meter long search and rescue vessel Salvamar Betelgeuse (MMSI: 225986508) and the 40 meter long tugboat María de Maeztu (IMO: 9429091) connected a towing line. The vessels took the fishing vessel under tow and proceed to A Coruña. The vessels arrived in port safely.
Reports state that minor repairs were done on the fishing vessel. No reports of pollution released.
On the morning of September 22, the 22 meter long fishing vessel Bahía De Águilas (MMSI: 224138680) became disabled in the Balearic Sea six miles south of Calafell, Spain. The Bahía De Águilas became disabled when a net entangled in the propeller. The vessel requested assistance with the Salvamento Maritimó dispatched the 15 meter long search and rescue Salvamar Polaris (MMSI: 224007110) to assist. The Salvamar Polaris towed the Bahía De Águilas to Vilanova. No reports of injuries to the 8 crew members, damage or pollution released.
