On September 28, the 80 meter long self-propelled barge Odin caught fire while berthed at Schwedt, Germany. A deckhand spotted a fire coming from the aft cabin and attempted to extinguish the blaze with the assistance of another deckhand. Their combine effort was not able to control the blaze  and the local fire brigades were called to the scene.  The fire brigade was able to extinguish the fire and found the body of the master of Odin. The water police have reported that the crew was intoxicated and the fire may be part of a homicide. The Odin had arrived from Magdeburg with a cargo of slag.

The 50 foot long four-car cable ferry Ironton Ferry caught fire while moored in Ironton, Michigan on Lake Charlevoix.  The fire started in one of the vehicles on the deck.  The fire was extinguished a short time later by the local fire department.  No reports of injuries to passengers or crew on board.  The Ironton ferry operates between mid-April through mid-November making  upwards of 100 trips across Lake Charlevoix each day.

The 80 meter long, 1700 dwt fishing vessel Campolibre Alai caught fire while fishing in the Indian Ocean off the Seychelles. The fire started after an explosion in the vessel’s engine room.  The explosion caused severe damage including water ingress.  Disabled and ablaze, the crew requested assistance.  A nearby fishing vessel  was able to come to the Campolibre Alai aid.  All the crew on board the Campolibre Alai was rescued and were to being transported to Port Victoria, Seychelles.  One crewman sustained severe burns, but was stabilized.  Reports state the vessel was left partially submerged and adrift, before it finally sank.
