On April 18, the 63 meter long, 1300 dwt cargo vessel Aegir ran aground near  Isla  Humos, Chile. The vessel was en route to Punta Arenas with a cargo of fish food when it suffered damage while transiting the Chacabuco canal. The Aegir sustained hull damage and suffered water ingress. Unable to control the flooding, the cargo vessel was driven aground to avoid it sinking. No reports of injuries to the 12 crew on board.

Authorities dispatched several patrol boats to the scene.  Steps were taken to contain any pollution released. Reports state no oil pollution had been released.

On April 23, the 190 meter long, 55700 dwt bulk carrier Beatrice ran aground on the Paraná River near Rosario, Uruguay. The Beatrice had departed from Rosario en route to Salif, Yemen when it ran aground. The bulk carrier remained aground for several hours until tugs were able to pull the vessel free. The Beatrice proceeded to Puerto Paraná where it will be surveyed for damage. No reports of injuries or pollution released.

On April 20, the 100 meter long, 5183 dwt cargo vessel Amira Eman ran aground off Porto Nogaro, Italy. The Amira Eman had departed the port with 4500 tons of cargo for Egypt when it stranded outside the navigation channel. A tug was requested and was able to assist in refloating the Amira Eman a short time later. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. The Amira Eman was allowed to proceed on its voyage.
