On the night of April 10, the 289 meter long powership KPS Orphan Ali Khan (IMO: 9248514) ran aground in the Sea of Marmara within the Yalova Anchorage Field. The powership was en route from Altinova to Yalova when it ran aground. Authorities dispatched the tugs Nen Hatun (IMO: 9675004) and Şark (MMSI: 271043518) aided by a KEGM lifeboat, divers and salvage experts. Reports state there were no injuries, but no further details were provided.

The KPS Orphan Ali Khan is one of the largest power generation vessels afloat.  Originally a capsize bulk carrier, the vessel was purchased to be converted to power generation in 2015.

On the morning of April 11, the 86 foot fishing vessel Eileen Rita ran aground in Boston Harbor off Green Island.  The Eileen Rita and proceeding in shallow water at low tide when it grounded on the rocks. The 3 crew on board donned immersion suits and sent out a distress call to the Coast Guard. Before the Coast Guard arrived on scene, the fishing vessel rolled over onto its port side and partially sank.  The Coast Guard and Boston police boat arrived on scene and safely rescued the 3 crew.  No reports of injuries.

The Coast Guard reports that the oil and fuel pollution had been released from the Eileen Rita. Authorities state as much as 4,000 gallons of diesel fuel and 50 gallons of lubrication oil was released. A long sheen of oil and fuel could be seen from the fishing vessel to the shores of Green Island.  The Coast Guard stated they are monitoring the pollution and stated it may take upwards of several days to clean up the spill.

The Coast Guard has launched an investigation into the incident. Officials have stated they are looking into if the master of the fishing vessel had fallen asleep allowing the vessel to run aground.

On April 9, the 350 meter long, 120853 dwt container ship CMA CGM Pelleas (IMO: 9365788) ran aground in the English Channel at Southampton, England.  The CMA CGM Pelleas was departing from its berth in Southampton bound for Rotterdam when it made a navigation error and nearly struck a retaining wall, but instead ran aground just short of the wall.

Harbour tugs were able to quickly pull the container ship free and escort the vessel to a berth.  There were no reports of injuries.  The CMA CGM Pelleas is to be inspected for any damage from the incident.  The Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) has launched an investigation into the incident.
