On March 13, the 81 meter long general cargo vessel Etim Emin ran aground on the Volga-Caspian Sea Canal. The Etim Emin was en route to Iran with 1990 tons of grain when it became grounded in shallow water.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. The vessel was reloated the following day with the aid of a tug.  The Etim Emin later proceeded to Olya for surveys.

On March 13, the 63 foot long fishing vessel Joyce Lynn II ran aground on sandy beach of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The crab boat had struck rocks along the  off Port Everglades sustaining hull damage and water ingress.  The Joyce Lynn II requested assistance with a Coast Guard boat responding.  The four crew jumped off the crab boat onto the rescue boat.  One man sustained minor injuries.  The Joyce Lynn II later washed ashore.  Initial attempts to refloat the vessel failed.  A salvage company plans to remove the vessel off the beach. The Coast Guard has launched an investigation into the incident.

The 169 meter long, 28423 dwt bulk carrier CSE Clipper Express ran aground in the Sea of Japan off Honshu Island near Yorihonjo, Japan.  The CSE Clipper Express had departed from Akita in ballast bound for Taiwan when it caught in a severe snowstorm with waves reaching 8 meters high.  The strong winds pushed the CSE Clipper Express into shallow water. The 20 crew stayed on board the vessel due to the severe weather. No reports of injuries. Authorities state there has not been any water ingress or  pollution released.
