The 193 meter long container ship Hansa Constitution went ashore on Pokfulam, Hong Kong. The vessel had suffered engine failure and had gone adrift.  Driven by strong monsoon winds, the vessel was pushed towards shore.   The Hansa Constitution performed an emergency anchor which help slow the vessel down.  Witnesses reported hearing  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution.  The vessel was assisted by tugs and later refloated the same day.

On March 31, the 20 foot trimaran fishing boat Kanoa went aground in Shark’s Bay near Hanapepe, Kauai, Hawaii.  The shrimp boat had been at anchored in the bay waiting to be refuel when the anchor  line broke and the Kanoa washed ashore.  No one was on board at the time.  The Kanoa suffered damage to the the center pontoon when it washed onto the rocks.  No reports of pollution released. A salvage firm hasbeen requested to remove and dispose of the vessel.
