The 11 meter long fishing vessel Rygjabuen went aground near  Brønnøysundregistrene, Norway.  The fishing vessel had struck a shoal in Brønnøy Sound resulting in water ingress.  A lifeboat reached the scene and was able to bring the water ingress under control.  The lifeboat was able to take the Rygjabuen under tow to Brønnøysund where it went into the yard.  No reports of injuries to the 6 crew and no pollution released.

On March 17, the 225 meter long bulk carrier Paraskevi went aground on the Paraná river near the 407 kilometer mark.  The Paraskevi was heading down the river with 45,000 tons of soybeans when it suffered a power blackout.  The Panamax vessel drifted until it grounded blocking traffic on the river.  Three tugs were dispatched attempting to free the bulk carrier, but the Paraskevi remained stuck.  After several days, the some 80 vessels were queued below the Paraskevi waiting for the vessel to be refloated.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

Vigilia

The 135 meter long self-propelled barge Vigilia went aground on the Mosel Canal at Remich, Luxembourg.  The Vigilia had departed the lock in Stadtbredimus and was attempting to do a turning maneuver when the vessel ran it’s bow onto the embankment.  The Vigilia was able to refloat itself under its own power a short time later.   No reports of injuries or pollution released.
