The 80 meter long self-propelled barge Thorsten went aground on the Bijlandsch Canal near Tolkamer, Netherlands.  The Thorsten loaded with a cargo of coal ran over a navigation beacon before striking a crib.  The vessel suffered hull damage with water ingress.   The Thorsten was able to proceed to Tolkamer where it docked.   The local fire brigade was contacted and were able to pump out the water.  A temporary patch sealed the leak.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.

Frisia VII

Frisia VII

The 53 meter long, 321 dwt ro-ro ferry Frisia VII went aground near Juist, Germany.  The vessel had driven off course by strong winds and became stuck in the surrounding marsh.  A lifeboat from the DGzRS arrived on scene, but was unable to pull the Frisia VII free. Later at high tide, the lifeboat was able to pull the ferry free.   The vessels proceeded to Juist.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
