The 133 meter long, 82238 dwt container shipPandora went aground in Japan‘s Inland Sea near Imabari, Japan. The Pandora was headed to Osaka, Japan from Qingdao, China. No reports of injuries. The vessel was refloated with some assistance and proceeded to the harbour at Imabari where it was berthed at a quay. Authorities are conducting an inspection of the vessel for any possible damage.
The 97 meter long ro-roferryTrondheim ran aground near Krokeide, Norway. The Trondheim departed Austevoll with 72 passengers and five crew on a scheduled voyage. As the ferry was approaching the piers at Krokeide, it suffered engine failure. The vessel was unable to slow down so the master steered the Trondheim away from the piers to avoid an allision, but grounded on the opposite side of the waterway. Passengers reported a loud thud as the ferry struck bottom, but there was no panic on board. No reports of injuries or pollution released. The passengers were later safely evacuated. The ferry was later towed to the nearby quay. Divers were requested to make an inspection of the hull for any possible damage.
The 89 meter long, 3000 dwt freighter Kine went aground near Smola Island, Norway. The Vessel suffered damage with its ballast tank holed. Some water ingress occurred, but the pumps were able to keep the flooding under control. The Kine was later refloated by the assistance of a tug before proceeding back to port under its own power.
