Thorco Lineage

On June 24, the 132 meter long, 16949 dwt cargo vessel Thorco Lineage ran aground off Raroia Atoll, French Polynesia.  The cargo vessel was en route to Hobart, Australia from Baltimore, United States when it ran ashore along the northern edge of the atoll.  No reports of injuries to the 18 crew on board, damage or pollution released.  

Authorities dispatched the multi-purpose naval vessel Bougainville to the scene. The Bougainville will attempt to refloat the Thorco Lineage. The Bougainville was able to attach a towline and pull the cargo vessel free.  However, the the towline broke leaving the Thorco Lineage adrift in the open sea.  Reports state the Thorco Lineage drifted away from the shoreline and a tug from Papeete was dispatched to take over the towing of the cargo vessel later the same day.   Authorities are still monitoring the situation.

On June 23, the 28 meter long tugboat Yarkii ran aground on the Volgo-Balt Canal near Krokhino, Russia.  The Yarkii was towing the tanker-barge Baltika-3 when strong winds blew the tug off course and ran aground.  The Yarkii sustained damaged and was holed on the port hull.  No reports of injuries.  Reports state authorities dispatched a vessel to the scene.

Perseus

The 158 meter long, 14483 dwt container ship Perseus ran aground at the entrance of the harbour of Torshavn, Faroe Islands. Two tugs were dispatched to the scene and were able to refloat the Perseus the same day.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. The Perseus departed the following day bound for Reykjavik.
