On October 19, the 180 meter long, 46874 dwt tanker Elixir collided with the 80 meter long, 4500 dwt tanker Good Success off Bonga FPSO, Nigeria. Both tankers were proceeding in low visibility when the Elixir struck the Good Success.  The Good Success quickly sank with 12 crew on board.  Three of the crew were later rescued, but the remaining remain missing or lost.  The details of the collision have not yet been reported, but authorities have stated that a last minute change of course caused the collision.  The tanker Elixir has been detained by authorities until the investigation is completed.

On October 18, the 10 meter long fishing vessel Frisk Fisk S521 allided with the quay at Skagen, Denmark.  The Frisk Fisk was arriving at the quay when it suffered as steering failure when a cable snapped. Unable to steer, the fishing vessel struck the quay sustaining significant bow damage. The local rescue station responded to the scene.  Using a dewatering pump, they were able to keep the Frisk Fisk afloat to allow the crew to unload the cargo of fish and lobsters.  However, an hour later the Frisk Fisk sank to the bottom.  The following day, a crane lifted the Frisk Fisk and hoist the vessel onto the quay.  Reports state the damage was enough to make the vessel a total loss. No reports of injuries.

The  25 foot long tugboat Annie Moon and a 200 foot long barge sank in the Houston Ship Channel near Galena Park, Texas. During the night, the barge suffered water ingress and began to sink. The tugboat Annie Moon still attached and was pulled down with the barge.  The Annie Moon completely sank while the barge sank with three-quarters of the barge submerged.  No one was on board the vessels at the time of the sinking. Authorities report that 20 gallons of diesel fuel was released into the water.  A heavy lift crane was to be brought to the scene and will remove both vessels from the channel.
