The 1058 dwt fishing vessel Fong Kuo No. 869 sank off Kaohsiung, Taiwan.  The vessel was proceeding out of Kaohsiung after restrictions were lifted as Typhoon Dujuan departed from Taiwan when it developed a list.  The list increased until the fishing vessel capsized and sank.  Twenty-three crew on board were thrown into the sea.  Two Coast Guard vessels were dispatched to the scene.  Assisted by helicopters, the Coast Guard was able to pull 21 men from the water.  Two remaining crewmen were rescued by nearby vessels. No reports of injuries.

The 80 meter long, 1700 dwt fishing vessel Campolibre Alai caught fire while fishing in the Indian Ocean off the Seychelles. The fire started after an explosion in the vessel’s engine room.  The explosion caused severe damage including water ingress.  Disabled and ablaze, the crew requested assistance.  A nearby fishing vessel  was able to come to the Campolibre Alai aid.  All the crew on board the Campolibre Alai was rescued and were to being transported to Port Victoria, Seychelles.  One crewman sustained severe burns, but was stabilized.  Reports state the vessel was left partially submerged and adrift, before it finally sank.
