Tugboat Aground

Tugboat Aground

The 65-foot tugboat Amy Sue was returning after delivering a barge on the Ouachita River near West Monroe, Louisiana when a mechanical failure caused the vessel to heel astern.  The tug then began to take on water and was in danger of foundering.  The four crewmen on board steered the Amy Sue onto the bank to prevent it from sinking.   All four crewmen were able to leave the vessel safely.  Reports state that some fuel had leaked from the stern into the river requiring a boom be place around the tug.   Owners plan to recover the vessel later that week.   The owners, Terral Riverservice, have listed the Amy Sue for sale ( See listing here)
