Dettmer Tank 87

The 80 meter long self-propelled tanker-barge Dettmer Tank 87 collided with a 200 meter long barge on the Elbe-Seiten Canal near Vorhop, Germany.   The vessels collided head-on when the barge had veered onto the wrong side of the canal.    Both vessels sustained significant damage, but no reports of injuries to any crew on either vessel.   The Dettmer Tank 87 was loaded with 1200 tons of  diesel fuel, but no reports of any pollution released.   The water police had launched an investigation into the collision.  Reports state the estimated damage is over 100000 euros.

CSL Tadoussac

CSL Tadoussac

The 730 foot long, 29261 dwt bulk freighter CSL Tadoussac allided with the pier on the Maumee River at Toledo, Ohio.  The vessel suffered hull damage near its starboard stern puncturing a fuel tank.   The crew quickly transferred the fuel to a different tank.   The amount of pollution released was not reported.  The CSL Tadoussac notified the Coast Guard of the fuel oil leak.  A containment boom was placed around the vessel while responders clean up the fuel spill.  The CSL Tadoussac was delivering 27,000 tons of iron ore to a nearby pier at the time of allision.

The 135 meter long, 10538 dwt container ship HR Recommendation went aground in the harbour at Charleston, South Carolina.    The HR Recommendation had lost propulsion while proceeding towards the terminal.   A salvage tug was requested and successfully refloated the container ship a short time later.   Both vessels proceeded to the terminal.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
