Sedna Desgagnes

The 139 meter long, 12612 dwt freighter Sedna Desgagnes ran aground on the St. Lawrence River near Prescott, Ontario. The vessel was en route to Chicago from Sorel, Quebec with a cargo of iron ore when it hard aground.   No reports of injuries to any of the 18 crew members on board.   Authorities report the Senda Desgagnes is hard aground listing slightly to starboard.   Two tugs were dispatched to the scene, but were unable to refloat the freighter.  When the vessel is refloated, it will be taken to Prescott where divers will conduct an inspection.

MSC Flaminia

Reports state nearly all the containers on the stern of the MSC Flaminia have been off loaded.  The wreckage of the burned out containers in the mid section of the container ship still remain.  The MSC Flaminia also has large amount of polluted water in it’s hold.   The vessel owner’s state the MSC Flaminia will be repaired.   Sections of the vessel that were damaged in the fire will be replace and the container ship will be put back into service.

Aidacara

Aidacara

The 193 meter long, 3752 dwt passenger ship Aidacara allided with a pier near Hamburg, Germany.  The Aidacara suffered a dent in the hull near the stern of the vessel.   The Aidacara was taken under tow back to port to be inspected.   No reports of injuries or pollution released.
