Yuanjiang Collision

Two vessels collided on the Yuanjing River near Yuanjiang City, Hunan Province, China.  A vessel with 22 people on board collided with an empty sand barge.   The vessel capsized and the bow became submerged.   Ten people were pulled from the water and rescued by local fishermen.  Eleven other people on board perished.  The survivors were taken to hospital for medical treatment.  The cause of the incident is being investigated by local authorities.

Parmis

The 98 meter long, 3839 dwt freighter Parmis allided with a pier in the Capsian Sea at Baku, Azerbaijan.   The Parmis was bound for Astrakhan, Russia from Baku when it a struck the pier.    No reports of injuries or pollution released.   The vessel was detained by local authorities for investigation.

The 85 meter long self-propelled barge Valet & Ott allided with the Neckar Bridge at Hirschhorn, Germany.  The Valet & Ott was en route to Strasbourg from Eberbach with 440 tons of scrap when it struck some scaffolding while passing under the bridge.   The barge’s wheelhouse was torn off disabling the vessel.   No reports of injuries or pollution released.   The barge was moored at the Hirschhorn Lock  while the water police conducted an investigation.   Traffic was stopped on the Neckar River while debris from the wheelhouse could be located.   Reports state the damage was estimated around 100000 €.   The Valet & Ott was taken under tow by a tug bound for Mannheim.
