The 64 meter long ro-ro ferry Sykkylvsfjord allided with the pier at Liabygda, Norway.   The ferry was approaching  pier when it was unable to slow down before striking the ramp.   No reports of injuries to the four crew or five passengers on board.  The  bow ramp was damaged after wedged under the pier.   The cause of the incident was due to a failure with one of the ferry’s propellers.  A tug was requested and was able to free the Sykkylvsfjord before proceeding to tow the ferry to a nearby repair yard.  This was the second allision in the past two weeks for the vessel.

The 76 meter long, 1578 dwt freighter Haoda 6 caught fire between the islands of Honshu and Kyushu, Japan.  The fire started in the cargo hold spewing out dense smoke.   The Haoda 6 contacted the Japan Coast Guard for assistance.   One of their vessels responded to the scene along with a local fire boat.  Both vessels sprayed water until the fire was brought under control.  No reports of injuries to the 10 crew on board.   The Haoda 6 was taken under tow to Kitakyushu.   The freighter was en route to Ningbo from Chiba with 980 tons of scrap metal.

A tender for the 294 meter long cruise ship Norwegian Dawn went aground near Bar Island Ledge, Maine.   The vessel grounded during low tide suffering hull damage.   No reports of injuries to the 93 passengers and 2 crew.   The Coast Guard responded along with several local boats in the area.   The boats safely evacuated the passengers back to the Norwegian Dawn.   The tender was later refloated and taken to dry dock for repairs.
