On November 12, the 110 meter long self-propelled barge Con Zelo ran aground just outside the port of Harlingen, Netherlands. The Con Zelo was proceeding to Ghent from Harlingen with a cargo of salt when it ran aground onto the shallows. Several nearby vessels including a KNRM lifeboat attempted to pull the Con Zelo free, but without success. The Con Zelo was refloated later on the rising tide. No injuries, damage or pollution released.

The 52 meter long ro-ro passenger ferry Friesland allided with the dock at Harlingen, Netherlands. The Friesland was doing a turning maneouver when a strong gust of wind caused the ferry to strike the pier. No injuries or pollution released. An inspection found the Friesland and the dock sustained damage, but the ferry was allowed to continue on its voyage to Terchelling.

The 100 meter long self-propelled barge Kamperzand allided with power lines over the Rhine Herne Canal near Heil, Germany. The Kamperzand was en route to Heil from Lünen with a cargo of coal when the barge’s crane struck the power lines. The crane was torn off the deck while the power lines came down. Reports state there was a power outage in the towns of  Rünthe, Oberaden, and Heil. Local fire brigade was called to remote the damaged lines.  No reports of injuries. Reports state the crew on the Kamperzand had raised the crane to haul a vehicle on board causing the incident.
