The 149 meter long, 19996 dwt tanker MCT Altair went aground on the Kiel canal near Levensau, Germany.  The Altair had run onto an embankment and was later refloated with the aid of two tugs later the same day.  The tanker was taken to Kiel to be inspected.    After finding no damage,  the Altair was allowed to continue on its voyage to Batumi, Georgia from Klaipeda.  No injuries, damage or pollution released.

CN_JUMBOS

The 185 meter long, 45496 dwt bulk carrier Anton Topic and the 166 meter long, 27321 dwt bulk carrier CN Jumbos collided in the Gulf of Siam off Ko Rin Island, Thailand. The two vessels were leaving the area after completing cargo operations when the Anton Topic struck the port side of the CN Jumbos.  The Anton Topic sustained damages to its bow while the CN Jumbos sustained 70 meter long gash to its hull and suffered water ingress in three cargo holds.  The Jumbos’ crew managed to stabilize the vessel by creating a 5 degree starboard list by ballasting.  No reports of injuries and no pollution released.  The Anton Topic was allowed to proceed on its voyage to Malaysia.

The 86 meter long self-propelled barge Rubiships VIII became disabled on the Danube near Deggendorf, Germany.  The Rubiships VIII was en route to Deggendorf from Straubing when the vessel’s rudder broke.  The crew was able to make an emergency anchoring.   The Rubiships VIII was taken under tow to Deggendorf and will be later towed to Linz for repairs.
