Flying Dolphin XIX

The 36 meter long high-speed ferry Flying Dolphin19 ran around near the port of Aegina, Greece between the islands of Aegina and Angistri.   The hydrofoil ferry left Piraeus with 59 passengers and six crew heading for Aegina when it ran into shallow water. The crew sent out a distress call to the Greek Coast Guard.  The Coast Guard dispatched several rescue vessels along with tugs and another ferry to the scene.  The passengers on the Flying Dolphin were safely transferred off to another ferry.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.   The crew remained on board to coordinate salvage operations.   An early survey of the vessel showed no water ingress.  The cause of the grounding had not yet been reported.
