The fishing vessel Ocean Ranger ran aground near the harbor at Unalaska, Alaska. The Ocean Ranger had run up on a reef after the crew made a navigational error. The fishing vessel sustained hull damage and water ingress.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.  The Ocean Ranger was able to refloat itself and proceeded to a nearby salvage yard.

Cornelia Marie rescues capsized f/v Auriga

The 40 foot long fishing vessel Auriga capsized at the entrance to the Unakwik Inlet near Valdez, Alaska.  The Auriga had been fishing near Eaglek Bay when a storm approached.  The crew had ceased fishing operations and prepared for the storm when the vessel was struck by a large rogue wave.  The Auriga capsized and partially sank.  The four crewmen on the Auriga were rescued by the nearby fishing vessel Cornelia Marie who transported the men to Valdez.  No reports of injuries.  The owners of the Auriga have contracted salvage team to remove the fuel and salvage the vessel.  The Auriga was reported to have 200 gallons of fuel and 18,000 pounds of fish on board at the time.  The cause of the incident is under investigation.

The 65 foot long fishing vessel Vernon suffer water ingress while off Ketchikan, Alaska. The crew contacted the Coast Guard the vessel was taking on water in the engine room.  The 47-foot motor life boat along with the 25-foot response boat were dispatched to the scene.  Once on scene, the Coast Guard crew began operating dewatering pumps and brought the flooding under control.  The rescue boats escorted the Vernon back to Ketchikan.  No reports of injuries.  The cause of the flooding was under investigation.
