The 222 meter long, 34752 dwt bulk freighter Algoma Discovery allided with the ship arrestor in a lock at Beauharnois, Quebec on the St. Lawrence River. The Algoma Discovery was downbound when it hit the arrestor collapsing the frame holding the cables. Traffic was halted as a heavy crane will be needed to replace the arrestor.
