On the afternoon of November 5, the 90 meter long self-propelled barge Zuidenwind (MMSI: 244730834) allided on the Zuid-Willemsvaart Canal in Weert, Netherlands. The Zuidenwind was bound for Born when it there was an incident with a personal watercraft causing the vessel to strike a bridge over the canal. Both the Zuidenwind and the bridge sustained damage from the incident.

The Zuidenwind was still seaworthy and was able to proceed under its own power to Limburg. The bridge was raised allowing the barge to pass, but was unable to completely lower again. Authorities had to close road traffic while the extent of damage was being assessed. The incident is under investigation.

On the morning of November 4, the 48 meter long ro-ro passenger ferry Maria Rebecca (IMO: 7210379) allided in the Sulu Sea at the port of Jolo, Sulu, Philippines. The Maria Rebecca was attempting to berth at the dock in Jolo when it lost control and struck the moored 103 meter long ro-ro passenger ferry Antonia 1 (IMO: 9053440). The bow of the Maria Rebecca struck the aft portion of the Antonia 1.  Both vessels would be later secured with reports of no injuries or pollution released.

The Philippine Coast Guard launched an investigation into the incident. The Coast Guard stated that rough seas conditions and large swells from Typhoon Tino contributed to the allision. The extent of damage for both vessels was not disclosed. Both vessels will undergo inspection and evaluation for repairs.  Both ship captains were advised to file marine protests for documentation.

On the night of October 28, the 114 meter long, 10049 dwt cargo vessel Industrial Merchant (IMO: 9534470) allided in the Galveston Ship Channel at the port of Galveston, Texas. The Industrial Merchant had struck the pier resulting in hull damage. The extent of damage had not been disclosed, but the cargo vessel fuel tank had been ruptured releasing fuel oil pollution.  The United States Coast Guard responded to the scene. Traffic on the Galveston Ship Channel was halted to prevent further spread of pollution and provide some safety to allow responders to conduct cleanup efforts. The Coast Guard laid out booms to contain the fuel oil spill.  No further details on clean up efforts were disclosed.

Several nearby cruise ships had to delay departures for several days until the Coast Guard completed cleanup.  Authorities stated the source of the oil spill had been secured and the exact amount of fuel oil released is under investigation. No reports of injuries.
