On April 17, the 190 meter long, 53,408 dwt bulk carrier Syros Trader (IMO: 9395214) caught fire with berthed at the West Poortweg Quay in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The fire started from an electrical short in the vessel’s wiring.  Authorities were alerted and deployed the local fire brigade. The fire fighters were able to extinguish the blaze. No reports of injuries or pollution released. The extent of damage to Syros Trader was not disclosed.

The 110 meter long self-propelled tanker-barge Poolzee allided with the 79 meter long passenger ship Angela Esmee and the 72 meter long passenger ship Anna Maria Agnes along a quay at Amsterdam. The Poolzee’s bow struck both passenger ships causing them to push up against the quay. The Anna Maria Agnes sustained several dents and smashed windows while the Poolzee sustained a sizable dent to its bow.

No report of injuries. There were no passengers on board either the Angela Esmee or Anna Maria Agnes at the time of the incident.

The 34 meter long ro-ro passenger ferry Ijveer 60 allided with a pole at Amsterdam, Netherlands. The ferry was arriving from Buiksloter Way when it struck a pole next to the jetty outside the main terminal in Amsterdam. Two people on board suffered minor injuries.

Local authorities launched an investigation into the incident. No reports of pollution released.
