Straum

The 164 meter long, 19536 dwt tanker  Straum suffered a fire in its engine room near Aukra, Norway.   The Straum was en route to Julsundet from Hustad Marmor when the fire started.  The crew was able to contain the blaze, but the fire damaged the engines leaving the tanker without power.  Rescue boats responded to the scene until a tug could take the Straum under tow.   Later the same day, a tug took the tanker under tow and proceeded to Molegard.   No reports of injuries or pollution being released.

Allision at Hundeidvika

Allision at Hundeidvika

The 64 meter long, 582 dwt ferry Aukra allided with the quay at Hundeidvika, Norway.  Both the quay and ferry suffered significant damage.   The master of the ferry was injured and was taken to hospital.   None of the six passengers on board were injured, but two of the five vehicles on board were damaged.  The Aukra proceeded to Festoya to unload passengers and vehicles.    Authorities are conducting an investigation into the incident.
