The 23 meter long tug Adonis was towing a water barge in the harbour of Gladstone, Australia when it’s steering failed.   The four people onboard tried to get the vessel under control, but the Adonis girded then rolled over and sank.   Three men were rescued by the water police, but one crewman perished.  Divers were able locate and recover his body.   An exclusion zone has been placed around the sunken tug until it can be salvaged.  Authorities are conducting an investigation into the incident.

The 65 meter long barge Parmelia I forced train service to stop in Fremantle, Australia.   The barge  had allided with multiple pylons of the Fremantle rail bridge causing damage to a overhead power supply mast for the train line.  The Parmelia I also suffered minor hull damage, but no reports of pollution being released.    The Parmelia I is typically used to refuel other vessels while in port.  Authorities will be conducting an investigation into the incident.

Dumun in the mud

Dumun in the mud

The 190-meter long freighter Dumun became stuck on a mud bank in the main shipping channel near Gladstone, Australia.   The Dumun had lost steering causing the vessel to run aground.  The vessel was  freed the same day and moored at Gladstone.   Divers have inspected the Dumun and the vessel is awaiting approval from officials before continuing.   The Dumun was fully loaded with coal bound for Singapore.
