Azov Sea Collision

The 123 meter long, 3085 dwt tanker Saratov City collided with the 85 meter long, 2780 dwt freighter Ekaterina in the Azov Sea.   The two vessels were attempting to pass when the Saratov City struck the stern of the Ekaterina.   The Saratov City suffered damage to its bow and anchor.   The Ekaterina suffered damage to its engine room along with a hole in the hull above the waterline.  The Ekaterina proceeded to Eisk its destination where it unloaded its cargo of fertilizers.   The Saratov City proceeded to anchor to allow for survey and inspection.

Collision in Azov Sea

The 114 meter long, 3595 dwt freighter Aleksa collided with the moored bunker tanker Poet V. Olefirenko in the Azov Sea port of Eisk, Russia.  The Aleksa was proceeding in the inner harbor when it struck the tanker resulting in minor damage on the Olefirenko.   No reported damage, injuries or pollution being released on the Aleksa.

Recep Karu Aground

Recep Karu Aground

The 99 meter long, 5118 dwt freighter Recep Karu went aground while leaving the Azov Sea port of Temryuk, Russia loaded with 3000 metric tons of wheat.   The vessel’s bow became stuck in the muddy bottom and required the assistance of three tugs before being refloating later the same day.  The Recep Karu returned to Temryuk for a diver inspection of the hull.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.
