The 114 meter long, 3147 dwt freighter Pavel Grabovskiy went aground just oustide the port of Azov, Russia in the Azov Sea.   The vessel was departing the port loaded with a cargo of wheat when it grounded.  No reports of injures to the 14 crew and no pollution was released.

Formerly the SORMOVSKIY 3049

The 118 meter long, 3811 dwt freighter Anga ran aground on the Don River near Azov, Russia.  The Anga was proceeding from Rostov-on-Don to Turkey with 2963 tons of scrap when it navigated too close to  the edge of the navigational channel.  No injuries, damage or pollution released.  Reports state traffic was no impacted by the grounding.

River Don Collision

River Don Collision

The 3100 dwt tanker Brothers 11 collided with the 3345 dwt tanker Valeriy Kalachev on the river Don near Azov, Russia.  The Brothers 11 was heading down river passing the Valeriy Kalachev which was going up the river.   The Brothers 11 had the right of way, but the Kalachev did not alter course when they struck.   The Brothers 11 suffered a three foot hole above the waterline while the Kalachev had a six foot hole in the bow near the anchor winch.   No one was injured on either vessel and no pollution was released.   Both vessels proceeded to Azov under their own power for survey and inspection.   Authorities are conducting an investigation into the incident.
