The 23 meter long, 180 tonne towboat Gisela and a barge allided on the Danube near Regensburg, Germany. The Gisela was pushing a barge loaded with gravel when it struck a pillar of a stone bridge causing a 15 centimeter crack along the hull plating. The vessel suffered water ingress and the vessel requested assistance. The water police and fire brigade arrived on scene.  A boom was placed around the vessels to contain any pollution while additional pumps to keep the flooding under control. Divers were requested and reports state a patch was to seal the leak before the Gisela could proceed. No reports of injuries and traffic on the Danube was not restricted. The water police has launched an investigation into the incident.

The 146 meter long, 19992 dwt tanker Bunga Lotus collided with 3 barges on the Parana River near Ramallo, Argentina. The Bunga Lotus was proceeding upriver in ballast when  it struck the barges under tow by a tug.The tanker sustained hull damage with its bunker tanks holed releasing some fuel. No reports of injuries, but oil pollution was spotted in the river. The Bunga Lotus was en route to San Lorenzo to load 5,000 tons of diesel fuel.

The tow boat Marrietta Hines with its 15 loaded coal barges allided with a bridge over the Cumberland River near Canton, Kentucky. The Marrietta Hines was headed upstream  when the second barge on the starboard side of the tow struck the pier of the Lake Barkley Bridge. The barge sustained damage and suffered water ingress. The Marrietta Hines pushed the damaged barge to shallow water near the bridge to keep it from sinking. The bridge was closed to traffic for an hour to be inspected for damage.  No reports of injuries or pollution released. The Coast Guard has launched an investigation into the incident.
