The 29 meter long passenger ferry Nordfolda became disabled off Bliksvær, Norway. The Nordfolda had departed from Sandhornøy headed to Bodø heading into strong winds and heavy weather. Due to rough conditions, the master of the Nordfolda asked passengers to remain seated.  Ten minutes later, there was a loud bang on the ferry. The ferry suffered a power black out as the main engine failed and water began to flow down  from the upper deck.  Two windows had been blown out allowing water ingress.  The vessel sent out a distress call and asked the passengers on board were told to put on survival suits.  Several vessels including a NSSR lifeboat responded to the ferry’s mayday and arrived on scene within the hour.  The lifeboat took the Nordfolda under towed to Bodø.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.  The ferry was later taken under tow to Burøya.
