The 177 meter long, 33476 dwt bulk carrier El Condor Pas ran aground on the Bosphorus near Istanbul, Turkey. The vessel was loaded with 29000 tons of iron ore had ignored authorities warnings when it made a navigation error by making an early turn and grounding into shallow water.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.  A tug was dispatched and was able to refloat the vessel a few days later.

On August 31, the 151 meter long tanker Paros Wind collided with the 180 meter long bulk carrier CS Jaden during the night near the north entrance to the Bosphorus Strait.  The Paros Wind, loaded with fuel oil, struck the port side of the CS Jaden which was laden with wheat.  Both vessels sustained hull damage, but no reports of injuries or pollution released.  Both vessels proceeded to an anchorage in the Black Sea off Türkeli, Turkey.

The 81 meter long, 2285 dwt cargo vessel Sava became disabled on the Bosphorus near Sariyer, Turkey.  The Sava was en route to Gemlik, Turkey from Varna when it suffered a mechanical failure. The Sava was able to safely drop anchor nearby.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
