The 58 meter long passenger ferry Kalamis collided with the 42 meter long passenger ferry Erdem Karadeniz in the Bosphorus near Haydarpasha, Turkey.   The two vessels collided head-on in dense fog.   Three passengers were injured.   Authorities dispatched several rescue boats to the scene.   The injured passengers were transferred to the rescue boats and taken ashore.   The remaining passengers were returned back to port.  No details provided to the damage either vessel sustained in the collision. Reports state that ferry service was suspended afterwards until weather conditions improved.

Ondina

The 78 meter long tanker Ondina  collided with the 58 meter long, 2615 dwt freighter Alaa 1 near Istanbul, Turkey.  The Alaa 1 was at anchor when the Ondina struck.   The Alaa 1 suffered some minor damage.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.  The Ondina was en route from Constanta to Sete.  No further details reported.

Fortune Express Delayed

The 170 meter long, 30109 dwt freighter Fortune Express became disabled in the Bosphorus (Istanbul Strait) after suffering an engine failure.   The authorities halted traffic and dispatched two tugs to secure the vessel.   The tugs were able to tow the vessel to an anchorage near Kireçburnu, Turkey.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.   The Fortune Express was en route to Iskenerun from Karadeniz Eregli with 14170 tons of coal.
