NT Diva Fire

The 18,012 dwt tanker NT Diva suffered an engine room fire while off the coast of Marica, Rio de Janerio, Brazil.   The fire was contained to the engine room.   One reported death of the 32 crew on board.   A tug was on scene to assist the vessel.   Authorities are conducting an investigation into the incident.

RBD Ocean of Joy Aground

The 229 meter long freighter RBD Ocean Of Joy went aground in Guanabara Bay, Rio de janeiro, Brazil.   The freighter was heading up the channel when it veered port and headed out the main channel until it went aground.   Tugs and several support vessels came to the aid of the Ocean Of Joy.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.   The reason for the grounding has not been reported.

Decommissioned Navy Ship Sinks

The former Brasilian Navy vessel Ary Parreiras G21 sank off the south coast of Peloponnese, Greece.   The naval vessel was under tow of the tug Istan Bull when it started to take on water.   The water ingress could not be stopped and the Ary Parreiras G21 sank.   The condition of the vessel was poor as it was being taken to the shipbreakers in Turkey.  No reports of injuries.
