Coastal Inspiration

The 160 meter long, 1770 dwt ro-ro ferry Coastal Inspiration allided with the wharf at Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada.  One crewman and one passenger were injured as the vessel’s crew issued a warning before the impact.  The Coastal Inspiration suffered only minor damage, but the loading ramp at the terminal prevented vehicles from being unloaded.  The vessel traveled to a nearby terminal to allow vehicles to depart.   The cause of the hard landing was not reported.

Horizon Tacoma

Horizon Tacoma

The 217 meter long, 20668 dwt container ship Horizon Tacoma became disabled off Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.  The Horizon Tacoma lost propulsion and was dropped anchor until the crew was able to complete temporary repairs.  Several tugs were sent to provide assistance as the Horizon Tacoma proceeded to Puget Sound.   Coast Guard Inspectors are conducting an investigation into the cause of the incident.  No reports of injuries or pollution being released.

Ocean Mist Aground

Ocean Mist Aground

The 40 foot long fishing vessel Ocean Mist went aground on the north shore of Hyphocus Island in Ucluelet, British Columbia, Canada.  The Ocean Mist had a full load of salmon went it went on to the rocks as the tide receeded.   Luckily, the vessel suffered no damage to the hull and was able to be refloated with the assistance of the Coast Guard vessel Atlin Post.
