The 162 meter long, 21871 dwt tanker Rhonestern allided on the Kiel Canal with the lock gate at Brunsbüttel, Germany. The tanker was headed to Rostock when it struck the gate sustaining bow hull damage. The lock gate sustained damage to be estimated around 100,000 Euros. No reports of injuries or pollution released.

The Rhonestern remained detained at Brunsbüttel before it was allowed to proceed on its voyage to Rostock where it will unload its cargo before undergoing repairs.

The 88 meter long, 2800 dwt cargo vessel Daan allided with the lock gate while exiting the Kiel Canal at Brunsbüttel, Germany. The Daan was proceeding through the lock when it suffered engine failure and could not reverse before it struck the lock gate. The Daan sustained bow damage with the bulwark partially torn off while the lock gate was left deformed. No reports of pollution released. The Daan was reported moored at Brunsbüttel.  On December 3, the Daan lost a crewman while en route to St. Malo from Szczecin. The vessel had a hatch strike a crewman standing on deck who later died from the injury.

The 88 meter long cargo vessel Delamar became disabled near the entrance to the locks of the Kiel Canal at Brunsbüttel, Germany. The cargo vessel was headed to Södertalke from Plymouth when it suffered engine failure near the locks. The crew quickly responded and avoided collision with the locks by conducting an emergency anchoring. Authorities dispatched two tugs and towed the Delamar to Brunsbüttel. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
