The 180 meter long, 40481 dwt bulk carrier La Richardais became disabled in the North Atlantic Ocean near the Canary Islands.  The La Richardais was 1 mile away from the port of Las Palmas when it suffered engine failure.  The bulker requested assistance with the search and rescue vessel Miguel de Cervantes responding.  The SAR vessel took the La Richardais under tow to a nearby anchorage.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

Pan Spirit

Pan Spirit

The 190 meter long, 56891 dwt bulk carrier Pan Spirit ran aground at Mombasa, Kenya.  The Pan Spirit had arrived from a voyage from Al Jubail and was maneuvering to berth in Mombasa when it ran aground. The bulk carrier remain stuck for several hours until it could be refloated later the same day.  No reports of injuries or pollution released. 

Raba

On July 4, the 149 meter long bulk carrier Raba ran aground near the entrance to the harbour at Liepaja, Latvia. The Raba had departed from Liepaja when it veered out the channel and ran aground near the southern breakwater.  The crew were unable to refloat the vessel and requested assistance. Tugs were dispatched and attempted to refloat the vessel the next day, but the bulk carrier was stuck. Authorities determined the Raba had to be lightered before any further attempts were made. The bulk carrier Crown Mary arrived on the scene on July 6.  Part of the Raba cargo was transferred to the Crown Mary which allow tugs to pull the Raba free. The Raba proceeded to a nearby anchorage where it could be inspected for damage. No reports of injuries or pollution released.
