The 185 meter long, 30892 dwt bulk carrier Tundra ran aground on the St. Lawrence River near South Lancaster, Ontario. The Tundra had veered a short distance out of the shipping channel and ran hard aground on a shoal. No reports of injuries. Traffic was halted on the seaway for a short time. The incident occurred just a few hours after the cruise ship Saint Laurent was refloated in a lock a short distance away in Massena. Authorities have deployed a team of investigators to assess the situation. Reports state that two tugs were to dispatched to the scene to help refloat the bulker.

The 187 meter long, 46807 dwt bulk carrier Jian Qiang ran aground in the Gulf of Mexico off Beaumont, Texas. The Jian Qiang was loaded with sulfur when it ran hard aground while outbound into the gulf.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. The Coast Guard and local authorities are monitoring the situation as plans to free the bulk carrier are being developed. The Coast Guard has launched an investigation into the incident.

The 190 meter long, 55389 dwt bulk carrier Dubai Energy ran aground on the Parana River near San Pedro, Argentina. The Dubai Energy was proceeding down the river from San Nicolas when it struck bottom blocking river traffic.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. This is the third bulk carrier this month to run aground near San Pedro. No reports of authorities dredging or imposing cargo restrictions at this time.
