BOGDAN

The 142 meter long, 13898 dwt bulk freighter Bogdan allided with a wall near the Iroquois Lock on the St. Lawrence River.  The Bogdan was attempting to slide the wall into the lock when it struck the wall and went crossways blocking the channel with her anchors.  Traffic was halted as the lock crew attempted to maneauver the freighter and clear the channel.  The Bogdan was secured the following day and tied-up awaiting inspection.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.  The Bogdan was en route to Cork, Ireland.

The 226 meter long, 34938 dwt self-unloading bulk freighter CSL Niagara went aground on Lake Erie near Sandusky, Ohio.  The CSL Niagara had completed loading of 30,000 tons of coal when it grounded in the Moseley Channel.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.  The CSL Niagara was later released the next day with the assistance of three tugs and favorable conditions.   The Coast Guard has launched an investigation into the incident.
