Marine Dynamo

On the morning of September 1, the 103 meter long, 8270 dwt bunker tanker Marine Dynamo (IMO: 9956719) collided with the 190 meter long, 56526 dwt bulk carrier Flag Gangos (IMO: 9643908) in the Singapore Strait some 8 kilometers south of Tanah Merah, Singapore. Both ships were stable after the collision.  One crew member on the Marine Dynamo suffered minor injuries and was being treated onboard the tanker.  There were no reports of injuries or pollution released on the Flag Gangos.

Singapore authorities reported there was a light sheen of oil that could be seen around the Marine Dynamo. The master of the tanker reported that a fuel tank above the waterline holding marine gas oil had been damaged by the collision and was the source of the pollution.  Authorities deployed a response team with multiple vessels to aid in the disperse of the oil sheens while drones were used to monitor the situation.  The incident is under investigation by authorities.

On August 17, 2014, a severe storm struck Fremantle, Australia. In the port the 200 meter long car carrier Grand Pioneer and the 149 meter long, 18762 dwt general cargo vessel AAL Fremantle were moored alongside the north quay. Crews were busy unloading cars from the Grand Pioneer as the winds picked up.  The winds increased as gusts topped over 122 kph. The crew had just completed unloading vehicles when the stern mooring lines of the Grand Pioneer snapped.  At the same time, the bowlines of the AAL Fremantle snapped.  Both vessels pushed by the wind swung out into the harbor.  The AAL Fremantle  allided with the nearby rail bridge.  The Grand Pioneer struck the 65 meter long, 1639 dwt bunker tanker Parmelia 1 which was moored near the bridge. Both the bridge and vessels sustained damage.  Authorities closed traffic to the bridge until it could be inspected.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.

Collision in Azov Sea

The 114 meter long, 3595 dwt freighter Aleksa collided with the moored bunker tanker Poet V. Olefirenko in the Azov Sea port of Eisk, Russia.  The Aleksa was proceeding in the inner harbor when it struck the tanker resulting in minor damage on the Olefirenko.   No reported damage, injuries or pollution being released on the Aleksa.
