The decommissioned 86 meter long, 4132 dwt tanker NP Unity went ashore on Caledonia Island near Chaguaramas, Trinidad. Strong winds caused the NP Unity to break free of its moorings.  The tanker was blown ashore onto a mud bank.  No reports of injuries.  Coast Guard tugboats along with private contractors refloated the NP Unity the following day.  No reports of pollution.  Reports state the NP Unity had been spotted before it went aground, but authorities were delayed responding and were unable to have a tugboat on the scene before the tanker had gone aground.
