On August 31, the 14 meter long fishing vessel Carmanah Light ran aground on Rose Spit, Haida Gwaii, British Columbia, Canada.  The crab boat had run aground just offshore and sustain water ingress. The four crew on board abandoned ship in their survival suits and were able to make it ashore safely. No reports of injuries.

Authorities were alerted and are monitoring the situation. Reports state the owner of the Carmanah Light is coordinating a salvage plan.

CSL Laurentien

On July 18, the 223 meter long, 36674 dwt bulk carrier CSL Laurentien ran aground on the St. Marys River near Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. The CSL Laurentien remained aground for a few hours until two tugs were able to help refloat the vessel. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. Reports state the CSL Laurentien proceeded to an anchorage where it will undergo surveys.

 

Flevoborg

The 143 meter long, 14595 dwt cargo vessel Flevoborg ran aground on the St. Lawrence River off Sainte Croix, Quebec, Canada. The Flevoborg was headed to Warrenpoint with a cargo of maize from  Montreal, Canada when it suffered engine failure and went aground. Tugs were dispatched and was able to refloat the cargo vessel. The Flevoborg was taken under tow back to Foulon Cove for repairs and inspected for damage. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
