On March 20, the 101 meter long container ship Greta (IMO: 9234422) became disabled at the entrance of the Çanakkale Strait. The Greta had suffered engine failure and requested assistance. Authorities dispatched the tug Kurtarma-18 which took the container ship under tow.  The vessels proceeded to Karanlık Liman where the Greta drop anchor. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

On the night of October 30, the 112 meter long, 7538 dwt tanker Global Lake (IMO: 9427469) became disabled on the Çanakkale Strait off Akbaş, Turkey. The Global Lake was headed to Aliağa from Samsun in ballast when it suffered main engine failure. Unable to restart the engine, the tanker requested assistance. Authorities dispatched a tug which took the Global Lake under tow and proceeded to an anchorage. Reports state the vessel was able to make repairs with help of authorities. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

On July 18, the 183 meter long tanker Kriti Sea ran aground on the Çanakkale Strait off Cape Nara, Turkey. The tanker was en route in ballast to Batumi when it suffered a technical fault. Authorities contacted the Kriti Sea about the situation. The captain of the tanker stated he did not need assistance, but authorities did dispatched tugboats to the scene. No reports of injuries or pollution released. The Kriti Sea was reported to be at anchor.
