On Febuary 9, the 41 foot long fishing vessel Allicat capsized in Snows Cut on the Cape Fear River near Carolina Beach, North Carolina. The Allicat was en route to Florida when it ran aground in Snows Cut.  The two crew on board was waiting for the next high tide to attempt to refloat the fishing vessel, but the Allicat began to capsized.  One crew was able to contact the Coast Guard while the other went overboard into the water.  The Coast Guard dispatched a rescue boat and safely rescued both men.  Both crewmen sustained injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.  Authorities did state there was a small sheen spotted around the vessel. A response team was hired to remove the batteries and fuel on board the Allicat. A boom was placed around the partially sunk Allicat to contain any further pollution released.

On February 3, the 55 meter long platform Sea Worker capsized off Hvide Sande, Denmark. The Sea Worker had been aground since January 27 while being towed to an offshore wind turbine site. Reports state the platform had on board both light fuel oil and lubricating oil and a small sheen was spotted, but authorities state there is no risk of a large oil spill. No reports of injuries. The Sea Worker was to be inspected for damage to see if the platform was too far damaged to be salvaged.

Eagle III

The 40 foot long crabber fishing vessel Eagle III sank off the entrance to Coos Bay, Oregon. The Eagle III had allided with the north jetty near the entrance in 30 mile per hour winds and seas reaching 10 feet. The vessel capsized and sank setting off an electronic distress beacon. The Coast Guard was alerted and launched a search and rescue effort. The master of the Eagle III was able to jump onto the jetty and reach shore alive, but one crewman perished on the jetty and two others were reported as missing. The Eagle III hull broke up and there is a large debris field. The incident is under investigation by local authorities and the Coast Guard.
