Kamaru

The 800 dwt cargo vessel Kamaru (IMO: 8622646) ran aground in the Bali Sea near Kalosot Island, Indonesia. The Kamaru was headed for Surabaya with 717 tons of nickle ore when it was driven aground by bad weather. The vessel piled up on a reef while trying to head into port. Reports state there was damage including hull breaches and water ingress. The 12 crew on board were safely evacuated off the Kamaru. No reports of injuries. Salvage attempts will be made on the next rising tide.

On September 9, the 90 meter long, 4672 dwt cargo vessel Adiante ran aground in the Gulf of Finland off Ust-Luga, Russia. The Adiante was attempting to enter the port when it veered off course and ran aground at the stern. Port authorities dispatched a tug which was able to refloat the Adiante a few hours later. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

The 230 meter long, 14424 dwt ro-ro cargo vessel Begonia Seaways ran aground on the Ghent-Terneuzen Canal near Terneuzen, Netherlands. The vessel was en route to Ghent when it suffered a mechanical fault and struct the canal embankment. The vessel requested assistance with authorities stopping traffic on the canal and dispatching several tugs to the scene. The tugs were able to refloat the Begonia Seaways and escorted the cargo vessel to a nearby quay later the same day.  No reports of injuries.  No further details reported to the extent of damage or if any pollution was released in the incident.
