The 24 meter long high-speed catamaran ferry Rich Passage 1 went aground near Port Townsend Bay  near Port Hadlock, Washington.  The captain of the vessel made a navigation mistake and steered the vessel into the shallows.  Before the vessel could be pulled free, the tide dropped leaving the Rich Passage 1 high and dry.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.  The ferry will be refloated on the next high tide.  The ferry was headed to Port Townsend to be hauled out for the winter

The 23 meter long catamaran ferry Rygerfonn allided with the pier at Tysnes, Norway.   The ferry struck the pier with some force causing damage to the vessel’s bow.  None of the 29 passengers on board were injured, but one passenger suffered a shock during the incident.  Attempts to pull the vessel off the pier were unsuccessful.  The cause of the allision was not reported, but authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.   The Rygerfonn makes scheduled trips between Bergen and Rosendal.
