The  92 meter long tanker Heng Shun DA 78 exploded in the Bohai Sea off Longkou, China. The tanker was at anchor when the acetylene gas exploded on board. Four crew were injured by burns and were taken to hospital by helicopter. No further details reported.

The 75 meter long, 2338 dwt cargo vessel Haoda 6 caught fire in the East China Sea off Ningbo, China. The Haoda 6 was headed to Taizhou from Yokohama, Japan when a fire broke out in the vessel’s engine room.  The compartment filled with smoke forcing the crew out. The vessel sent out a distress signal requesting assistance. A Coast Guard boat along with harbour tug were dispatched to assist. Both vessels aided in evacuating the crew and later extinguished the blaze.  No reports of injuries or pollution released. Reports state the fire may have started by an electrical short in a generator.

The 54 meter long cargo vessel Shen Zhou 33 capsized and sank in the Taiwan Strait off Chongwu, China. The cargo vessel was headed to Quanzhou from Shantou when it suffered a cargo shift.  The Shen Zhou 33 developed a heavy list to port with water ingress. The crew quickly abandoned ship into a life raft as the cargo vessel partially sank.  All 6 crew on board escaped and there were no injuries. Authorities arrived on scene and safely took the crew to shore.  Reports state the wreck is still being monitored for pollution by authorities.
