Collision off Singapore

The 200 meter long, 51406 dwt bulk carrier Guo Dian 2 collided with the  178 meter long, 32993 dwt bulk carrier He De off Shanghai, China.  The two vessels collided sustaining damage and water ingress, but neither vessel was in danger of sinking.  No reports of injuries.  Both vessels were detained and were last reported at anchorage off Shanghai.

HANJIN_NINGBO

The 200 meter long container ship Hanjin Ningbo and the 115 meter long bulk carrier Fortuna 98 collided in Quanzhou Bay near xiangzhi, China.  The Hanjin Ningbo struck the Fortuna 98 in the early morning hours.  The Fortuna 98 suffered damage to its ballast tanks and sustained water ingress resulting in a power blackout.  All 7 crewmen on the Fortuna 98 safely transferred to the Hanjin Ningbo.  No reports of injuries.  The Fortuna 98 was taken under tow the following day to a nearby port.

The 97 meter long coastal freighter Zhong Xing 2 collided with the 302 meter long, 79278 dwt container ship Mol Motivator off Hong Kong near Po Toi Island.  The two vessels were proceeding in heavy rain when the Mol Motivator collided with the Zhong Xing 2.  The Zhong Xing 2 quickly sank trapping 11 of its 12 crew.  One crewman from the Zhong Xing 2 was able to escape and was later rescued by a nearby fishing boat.  Authorities  from Guangdong launched an air-sea rescue operation looking for any other survivors.  An oil slick and some lifevests were spotted where the freighter sank.  No reports of injuries on the Mol Motivator.  The Zhong Xing 2 was loaded with cement from Hebei province bound for port of Haikou in Hainan province at the time.  The  MOL Motivator was leaving Hong Kong en route to Yantian.
