Jin Ocean formerly the Santa Maria I

 

 

The 230 meter long, 67,296 dwt freighter Jin Ocean ran aground in the Pearl River Delta west of Shan Island, China.   The Jin Ocean loaded with 60,000 tons of coal contacted the South China Sea Rescue Bureau who deployed the rescue craft No. 116.   The rescue vessel taking advantage of the rising tide was able to free the Jin Ocean.   The freighter was escorted to Hong Kong anchorage.   All 24 crew on board were uninjured.

Yangshan Collision

Yangshan Collision

The 80596 dwt boxship CSAV Petorca collided with the 33795 dwt freighter CCNI Rimac at the port of Yangshan Deep Water Port, China.   The CCNI Rimac suffered damage to a cabin and had some minor water ingress.   The CSAV Petorca lost 26 containers which went overboard.  Shanghai Martime Department deployed three vessels to carry out rescue and coordination to salvage the containers.   During an inspection, authorities found smoke coming from a chemical container with a cargo of nitrocellulose which could start a fire.   The container was removed from the CSAV Petorca.    No reports of injuries or pollution being released.

Nandayou 22 Explosion

Nandayou 22 Explosion

The 54 meter long tanker Nandayou 22 exploded while docked at Guangzhou, China.  Reports state that five people were killed with one injured.  Authorities were able to extinguish the fire started by the explosion.  The number of people on board the Nandayou 22 before the explosion was not known.
